Vodafone Idea (Vi) has undertaken a major network upgrade across over 20 districts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The telecom operator has deployed the efficient 900 MHz spectrum at more than 3,450 sites, including major cities such as Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam. This enhancement is designed to boost indoor coverage and improve data speeds, particularly in urban and densely populated areas, ensuring a better connectivity experience for users.

Strengthened Connectivity

Vi has doubled its capacity in the 2500 MHz spectrum band, increasing it from 10 MHz to 20 MHz across more than 5,000 sites. This upgrade, part of its Vi GIGAnet network expansion, promises faster data speeds and improved coverage for customers.

Additionally, Vi has deployed 2.4 MHz of the 900 MHz band, acquired for INR 691 crore in the June 2024 spectrum auction, across over 3,450 sites. Key locations benefiting from this enhancement include Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, Kakinada, Rajamahendravaram, and several other towns in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. These upgrades aim to strengthen indoor coverage and overall connectivity in urban and semi-urban areas.

Vi stated that this network expansion aligns with its larger strategy to enhance infrastructure and deliver an improved, top-tier network experience to its customers.

Anand Dani, Cluster Business Head for Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka at Vodafone Idea, highlighted that the deployment of the 900 MHz spectrum and the upgrade of the 2500 MHz band are crucial milestones in improving the company's network in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

He noted that these enhancements aim to provide Vi users with better indoor coverage, improved call quality, and faster data speeds on the Vi GIGAnet network. Dani added that the company remains committed to further strengthening its network and delivering innovative offerings to support customers in the digital era.

The Power of Connection

Vi announced the successful completion of its ambitious target of adding "100 towers every hour" as part of its nationwide network expansion efforts. The milestone comes following the company's successful follow-on public offering (FPO) earlier this year, which has enabled Vi to rapidly enhance its network infrastructure across India.

As part of its ongoing "Be Someone’s We" campaign, Vi aims to showcase this achievement while emphasizing the strength and reach of its expanded network, even in diverse and challenging terrains. The campaign underscores Vi's commitment to providing reliable connectivity and better network experiences to its users.

Commenting on the campaign, Avneesh Khosla, CMO of Vi, said, "‘Be Someone's We' reminds everyone about the power of connections. Adding 100 towers every hour is a testament to our commitment to bringing robust connectivity to ensure that people remain connected and come together for their loved ones in little ways that go a long way."
