ZTE Corporation, a global leader in integrated information and communication technology (ICT) solutions, alongside CelcomDigi Berhad and U Mobile Sdn Bhd, has set a new record for achieving the fastest mobile speed (30.8 Gbps) utilizing 5G-Advanced (5G-A) during a live trial in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. This achievement is currently the fastest speed ever recorded globally.

Additionally, individual users experienced speeds of up to 8.5 Gbps. The use of 5G-A technology offers significant benefits for consumers and businesses by supporting innovative, complex, and data-intensive applications, resulting in an optimal user experience.

Leveraging a Multi-Partner Strategy

The partners plan to demonstrate this cutting-edge technology with Malaysia's first 5G-A live broadcast during the Opening Ceremony of SUKMA 2024 in Sarawak, which will be aired nationwide through Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM). Viewers can expect a dynamic and immersive experience with high-resolution streams and minimal delays.

Datuk Idham Nawawi, CEO of CelcomDigi, emphasized the importance of industry collaboration in realizing the potential of 5G and 5G-A. He highlighted the multi-partner strategy needed to deliver the best experiences to Malaysians and drive the nation's transformation into a 5G- and AI-powered digital society.

Wong Heang Tuck, CEO of U Mobile, expressed pride in achieving this record-breaking 5G-Advanced speed with industry partner, CelcomDigi, and technology partner, ZTE, showcasing the possibilities of 5G-A for enterprise solutions across various sectors.

Those visiting the CelcomDigi, U Mobile, and ZTE 5G-A Pavilion outside the Sarawak Stadium will be able to experience 5G-A enhanced XR (extended reality) firsthand. By using 5G-A powered 360° cameras installed in the stadium, visitors can immerse themselves in the stadium's atmosphere by wearing VR goggles.
