Airtel has expanded its mobile network coverage to Phobrang, a remote village situated near the Indo-China border in Ladakh's Union Territory.
Positioned at an elevation of 15,000 feet, near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the village had previously struggled with limited communication options due to its isolated and challenging landscape.
Setting up network infrastructure in Phobrang proved to be a formidable challenge for Airtel. The company had to contend with severe weather, rough terrain, and the region's sensitive political status.

Nevertheless, Airtel successfully established crucial connectivity in this remote, high-altitude village, achieving a major milestone in extending network services to some of India's most difficult-to-reach areas.
This network upgrade now provides essential mobile services to about 2,000 households in Phobrang, which is also home to India's highest herbal garden and is situated at an altitude of 15,000 feet above sea level.

With this rollout, Airtel has emerged as the first service provider to establish connectivity in Phobrang.
