This initiative symbolizes a major step in Indonesia's efforts to become a global digital economy.

Foundational Knowledge, Practical Skills

Using the Ministry's established Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) platform, the online academy will concentrate on building foundational knowledge and practical skills in cybersecurity for individuals and small businesses. This will ensure they are better prepared to protect themselves in an increasingly digital world. Additionally, it will enhance Indonesia's cybersecurity capabilities by supporting both current professionals and emerging talent to expand the pool of cybersecurity experts.

Indosat and Mastercard will play crucial roles by combining Indosat's strong digital talent development initiatives with Mastercard's expertise in cybersecurity solutions and experience in providing comprehensive cybersecurity training in various markets across the Asia Pacific and globally. Participants in the DTS program will acquire the essential skills needed in today's digital economy, such as securely managing devices, apps, and accounts; staying updated on software and security; defending against phishing and malware; and safeguarding business data with backups. The aim is to bolster Indonesia as a digital economy not only within Southeast Asia but on a global scale.

Minister of Communications and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Arie Setiadi, stated, “This partnership signifies a significant milestone in Indonesia's digital progress. We are dedicated to constructing a secure and resilient digital ecosystem, with cybersecurity being a vital component of this mission. By collaborating with Indosat and Mastercard, we are establishing a solid foundation to prepare Indonesia's digital talent for the challenges ahead.”

“A Safe Digital Economy”

President Director and CEO of Indosat, Vikram Sinha, expressed, “At Indosat, we believe that digital talent is crucial for Indonesia's future. Being entrusted by the Ministry of Communications and Informatics to support this groundbreaking initiative is a responsibility we proudly accept. Together with Mastercard, we are committed to accelerating Indonesia's journey towards becoming a digitally advanced and secure nation, ready to compete globally. Through this significant initiative, we believe Indosat is closer to fulfilling its larger purpose of empowering Indonesia.”

Country Manager and President Director, Indonesia, Mastercard, Aileen Goh, mentioned, “As the digital economy expands, so does the frequency and impact of cyberattacks. Cybercrimes are projected to cost the world about USD 13.8 trillion by 2028. In addition to the rise in vulnerabilities, a recent global survey revealed that 72 percent of cyberattacks in Asia are due to a shortage of skilled specialists in the field. Building capacity and nurturing a pipeline of cybersecurity talent is therefore crucial for ensuring cyber resilience and a safe digital economy. Mastercard is pleased to contribute to this important initiative alongside Indosat and the Ministry of Communications and Informatics.”
