Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced its preparations for the imminent launch of 4G services in the Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu districts as part of the Phase IX.2 initiative.

The project involves the installation of 2,114 4G towers, currently in progress across these districts. In an official announcement, the telecom giant stated that it had commenced 4G services in multiple locations within the Tiruvallur district.

This milestone forms part of the 4G Saturation project, and employs state-of-the-art technology implemented in the 'Make in India' initiative.

The project, financed by the Universal Service Obligation (USO) Fund of the Centre, with a budget of INR 16.25 crore, represents a crucial advancement in BSNL's mission to enhance connectivity in rural and remote regions, according to the statement.

BSNL Chennai Telephones Chief General Manager, Papa Sudhakara Rao, oversaw the inauguration of 4G services in the Tiruvallur district during a ceremony.

BSNL recently reported the successful installation of 10,000 4G sites nationwide. Additionally, BSNL plans to roll out its 4G services soon in the Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, and Kodagu districts in Karnataka. In May, BSNL introduced 4G services in the Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh, with plans to expand coverage statewide.
