Reports indicate that the active social media user count has surged past 5 billion, with Meta's Facebook leading the pack at 2.19 billion users. Following closely behind are Meta's Instagram with 1.65 billion users, and TikTok with 1.56 billion users.
Over the past year, the number of users rose by 5.6%, outpacing the 0.9% increase in the world's population.
Despite the fact that social media growth has slowed, the analysis showed that social media user identities increased by 1.5 percent between October and December, thanks to an additional 75 million new users during 2023. However, the last quarter of 2023 marked the highest average growth rate, with an increase averaging 9.4 new users every second during those final three months of the year.
