Parking management technology developer ‘Smart Parking’ has officially deployed its Internet of Things-based parking solution in the Australian city of Casey. The cutting-edge solution specifically designed to transform your parking experience consists of 904 ‘Smart Parking vehicle detection sensors which are used in order to monitor space availability and mobility bays.

One of the main causes of urban congestion in major cities has been attributed to motorists driving around looking for vacant car parking spaces. The information collected by the ‘Smart Parking’ sensors will display real-time variable messages at the car parks entrance which include direction indicators for drivers.

In addition to this, it has been disclosed that Smart-Spot Gateways will connect to a mobile network and act as the central communication unit that collects the data via wireless communications which then transmits the information to the Smart-Cloud parking services system.

The company’s analytics tools and dashboard which is rather aptly called Smart-Rep will provide motorists with a real-time view of how both the smart car park and infrastructure are being utilized. This subsequently enables the city, in this instance Casey with the ability to monitor parking facilities in an effort to use resources in a much more efficient fashion - and also allows the city to plan more effectively in a bid to create a happier parking experience for visitors.

The National Sales manager for Smart Parking, Ben Williams, expressed his delight at the new partnership between his firm and city officials, and declared that its solution will transform the parking experience for residents in the city. “Not only will the technology assist visitors to our Bunjil Place precinct in finding a suitable parking space, but the use of reporting data will also allow us to analyze individual parking bay usage, traffic flows and peak usage periods”, said the Mayor. “Integrating this technology will provide us with significant future opportunities to continue on our journey of becoming a smart city”.
