Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS), has intensified its efforts to prevent the misuse of cross-border mobile signals by call center gangs.

In collaboration with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and cyber police, AIS deployed a strategic network adjustment in Songkhla’s Sadao district, aiming to curb unauthorized signal spillover into neighboring countries.

As part of its initiative, AIS has reduced antenna heights to 15 meters to limit signal reach beyond Thailand’s borders. The network has also implemented tagging measures to enhance monitoring and compliance with government regulations in an effort to dismantle criminal telecom activities.

Since 2024, AIS has expanded these efforts across seven provinces and 11 districts. Over the next 30 days, the company plans to extend the program to 10 additional provinces, adjusting signal towers to prevent unauthorized connections with foreign service providers.

To maintain its network integrity, AIS has deployed small cells and mobile base station vehicles to ensure seamless communication for local users. These measures align with broader government initiatives to crack down on telecom-related fraud, particularly targeting scam operations based in Myanmar.

Public sentiment strongly supports these actions, with a recent National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) survey showing that 70.54% of respondents support cutting off utilities to scam hubs operating across the border. Meanwhile, authorities are investigating potential domestic collusion in telecom-related crimes, reinforcing national security efforts.

AIS remains committed to securing Thailand’s telecommunications network, ensuring both safety and reliability for users while aiding the government’s broader crackdown on cross-border fraud.
