U Mobile Bhd and EDOTCO have partnered to speed up the implementation of U Mobile's 5G network following the Malaysian government's announcement of a dual network model. In a joint statement, the two companies announced that U Mobile will leverage EDOTCO's tower infrastructure and expertise.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), EDOTCO will share information and provide access to its tower infrastructure to U Mobile, ensuring resources are ready and sites are delivered quickly to support the rollout of U Mobile's 5G network.

The companies will work together to develop a more efficient process for identifying the best tower locations and structures using AI and data-driven analytics. This collaboration aims to speed up site acquisition and permissions by collaborating with state agencies.
Furthermore, U Mobile and EDOTCO will discuss different commercial arrangements for infrastructure needs, such as built-to-suit sites, co-locations, site upgrades, and indoor coverage, to offer a cost-effective and competitive solution for a timely rollout.

U Mobile's Chief Technology Officer, Woon Ooi Yuen, expressed that he is excited to utilize EDOTCO's tower infrastructure to accelerate the rollout of their 5G network. He reiterated the compound effect of the partnership which encompasses ensuring affordable and high-quality services for Malaysians and highlighting the economic benefits of the technology.
Gayan Koralage, EDOTCO's Director of Malaysia Business, emphasized the company's commitment to collaborating with mobile network operators to provide top-notch telecommunications solutions and shape the future of connectivity of the region.
