Singtel has signed three Memoranda of Understanding with industry leaders Cisco, Fortinet, and Nokia to offer quantum security solutions to businesses through its Quantum Safe Network (QSN). This collaboration allows enterprises to leverage Cisco's routing platform, Fortinet's firewalls, and Nokia's optical devices.

With the escalating frequency and sophistication of cyber threats, businesses are increasingly vulnerable to attacks targeting their digital infrastructure. By leveraging Cisco's routing platform, Fortinet's firewalls, and Nokia's optical devices, enterprises can fortify their defenses against evolving cyber threats, ensuring resilience in the face of complex security challenges.

This strategic partnership not only empowers businesses to enhance their cybersecurity posture but also underscores the critical role of collaborative efforts in mitigating cyber risks and safeguarding digital assets in an ever-evolving threat landscape.

These solutions use quantum key distribution (QKD) from Singtel's QSN, which is a secure way to distribute encryption keys only known between trusted parties and can be easily integrated into existing network and security infrastructure.

These partnerships come after Singtel was appointed by the Infocomm Media Development Authority last year to develop Singapore's first nationwide QSN by mid-2024, in partnership with global quantum cybersecurity leader, ID Quantique. This initiative aims to strengthen Singapore's resilience against quantum threats in the coming years.

The Importance of Collaboration

The Quantum Safe Network is part of Singtel's domestic network offerings designed to secure critical business data and provide enhanced security and flexibility as a managed service. Singtel is also collaborating with government agencies like HTX to develop and test quantum-safe network use cases.

Lim Seng Kong, Managing Director of Enterprise at Singtel Singapore, emphasized the importance of collaboration between telcos, IT, and technology leaders in building a nationwide QSN. He highlighted the need to continuously update security measures to address evolving cyber threats and invited the industry to join in preparing for the quantum age.

Representatives from Cisco, Fortinet, and Nokia also expressed their excitement about collaborating with Singtel to develop quantum-safe solutions for businesses. They emphasized the importance of staying ahead of cybersecurity challenges posed by quantum computing and providing innovative solutions to secure the digital economy in the quantum age.

By prioritizing innovation and proactive measures, they aim to safeguard digital assets and maintain the integrity of critical infrastructure against potential vulnerabilities posed by quantum technologies. This proactive approach highlights the need for continuous adaptation and forward-thinking strategies to mitigate cybersecurity risks in an era defined by rapid technological advancements.
