Globe Telecom has announced its significant progress in expanding its network infrastructure throughout 2023 to provide more access and reliable connectivity to all Filipinos, nationwide.
Last year, the Ayala-led telco built 1,217 new cell sites and upgraded 6,975 existing mobile sites to 4G LTE technology, ensuring that more customers have access to life-enabling connectivity.
Technical advancements in cell site technology, such as multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antennas and carrier aggregation, further optimize network performance. MIMO antennas enable the transmission and reception of multiple data streams simultaneously, increasing data throughput and enhancing network capacity. Carrier aggregation allows the aggregation of multiple frequency bands to boost data speeds and improve network efficiency.
Globe also advanced its 5G network rollout, activating 894 new 5G sites last year to align with current market dynamics and provide customers with a better browsing experience. Similarly, Globe installed over 199,000 fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) lines as it continued to make the most of its existing fiber inventory and ensure product delivery to the underserved prepaid fiber market.
Optimizing Network Services

Globe spent USD 1.3 billion on CapEx in 2023, following a peak spending period during the pandemic, when demand for connectivity increased as the digital shift accelerated. As demand for data connectivity increased, 91 percent of the funds were allocated to data infrastructure.
