GULF and AIS are collaborating through the ‘Gulf x AIS Solar Synergy: A Spark of Green Energy Network’ project to provide energy and digital technology to communities in Thailand.
This partnership seeks to eliminate inequality, improve healthcare, and expand educational opportunities to remote areas. It promotes community economic growth and quality of life.
Generating Renewable Energy
As part of the project, solar panels will be installed to generate renewable energy. Mobile phone base stations will also be set up to connect remote areas to communication infrastructure. The pilot implementation of the project will be in Ban Dokmai Sod, a village in Mae Usu, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province, which will then expand to other regions.
Tanon Tantisunthorn, GULF Energy Development's Chief Infrastructure and Logistics Business Officer, and Ms. Saichon Submakudom, AIS's Head of Public Relations and Business Relations Business Unit, pledged to collaborate to improve the everyday lives of Thailand’s residents— with their goal of offering necessary infrastructure to regions where public utilities are difficult to access. This will be made possible through the synergy that exists between GULF's experience in renewable energy and AIS's proficiency in communication technology.
“Because both organizations recognize that electricity and communication systems are essential public utilities, it is crucial that people in every area have equal and widespread access. This belief serves as inspiration for all employees who wholeheartedly support this mission under their respective roles and responsibilities. The project is also deemed in line with sustainable development policies arising from the management of renewable energy and the development of digital service infrastructure, capable of generating benefits across the economic, social, and environmental aspects.” Tantisunthorn and Submakudom reiterated.
The initial test run in Ban Dokmai Sod— with its difficult terrain and lack of electricity— will serve as a basis for further expansion of the program. GULF will deliver solar power systems to communities which can be used for healthcare, education, and basic necessities. Meanwhile, AIS will deploy a solar-powered telecommunication system to provide online learning, health consultation through telemedicine, and promote tourism.
