Bridge Data Centers (BDC), a leading provider of data center solutions in the Asia-Pacific region, has announced plans to expand its hyperscale data center campus, known as MY03, located at MRANTI Park in Kuala Lumpur.
This expansion will provide an additional 48 MW of IT power to hyper-scalers and enterprises in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region. BDC has entered into an agreement with the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI), which is Malaysia's central agency for research and innovation commercialization.
Under this agreement, BDC will develop three buildings and a 132 kV substation in MRANTI Park. Once the expansion is complete, MY03 will have a total IT power capacity of 64 MW. This development further solidifies MRANTI Park as a thriving technology hub for the global community, supporting business growth and success.
BDC and MRANTI recently held a signing ceremony in Kuala Lumpur. The event was witnessed by Dzuleira Abu Bakar, CEO of MRANTI; Khairil Anuar Sadat Salleh, chief commercial officer of MRANTI; and Dz Shing Lim, president of Bridge Data Centers. The signing ceremony marked the establishment of the data center campus in MRANTI Park.
This development solidifies Malaysia's position as an attractive destination for data center investment in the Asia-Pacific region. MRANTI Park is strategically located near central Kuala Lumpur and covers a vast area of 686 acres. It is designed to support the entire innovation process and focuses on driving the commercialization of impact technologies in key industry sectors to promote sustainable development.
Abu Bakar announced the Master Plan for MRANTI Park, which aims to transform it into a leading 4IR hub in Malaysia. The plan includes achieving a gross development value of RM20 billion, land leases worth RM2.8 billion and the creation of 8,000 jobs by 2027.
In addition, MRANTI recently launched the MRANTI 5G Experience Centre, a national testbed for 5G, to accelerate innovation in a data-driven future. They are also excited to announce the expansion of Bridge Data Centers within MRANTI Park, which aligns with their expansion strategy.
Meanwhile, the CEO of MIDA, Ybhg. Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman, expressed his excitement about the MY03 hyperscale campus expansion project of Bridge Data Centers in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. He emphasized that this project demonstrates investors' trust and confidence in Malaysia as a strategic and sustainable data center investment destination. MIDA will continue to support BDC's initiative in creating talent and providing cutting-edge technologies to local businesses, especially SMEs, to accelerate Malaysia's growth.
Furthermore, the CEO of MDEC, Mahadhir Aziz, stated that Bridge Data Centers’ expansion in Malaysia not only meets the increasing demand for digital transformation but also strengthens Malaysia's position as the digital hub of ASEAN. Through their national strategic initiative and PEMANGKIN programs, they are fostering an ecosystem that drives high-value investments and innovation.
In addition, Dz Shing Lim stated that the expansion in Kuala Lumpur will enhance BDC's position as the leading provider of data center solutions in the Asia-Pacific region. This investment will enable them to better meet the changing needs of their clients by offering top-notch data center solutions and contributing to Malaysia's digital transformation. Lim expressed gratitude to MIDA, MRANTI and MDEC for their support.
The Vice President of Design at Bridge Data Centers, Tho Lye Yit, mentioned that the new facility will have advanced features such as sustainability, energy-efficient power and cooling technology, and multi- network connectivity. These features will ensure uninterrupted operations and optimal performance.
