M1 Limited has announced their strategic collaboration with Accenture to drive 5G growth for enterprises, starting by focusing on maritime, energy and utilities and smart estates industry verticals.

The collaboration is founded on M1’s expertise in 5G connectivity and the extensive development of 5G use cases, as well as Accenture’s deep cross-industry and functional expertise supported by its proven methodologies, powerful technology assets and platforms. Both companies will co-develop best-in-class solutions using the transformative effects of 5G, the Internet-of-Things, edge computing and cloud to solve industry challenges and support enterprises in their sustainable growth, with the aim of advancing Singapore’s 5G vision.

To enable enterprises to tap into the endless possibilities 5G offers, M1 and Accenture will jointly work to identify and address key challenges of selected industries through co-developed 5G-powered solutions and business cases which can be subsequently deployed and scaled to organisations in these identified industry verticals.

“5G and its game-changing capabilities is something that we have relentlessly worked to realise value for consumers and businesses. Here at M1, we are ready to transform businesses and industries with True 5G, true to Keppel’s Vision 2030 to contribute to smart cities of the future. We continue to remain at the forefront of 5G development and are excited to be working with Accenture to further accelerate our 5G journey and create a multiplier effect to bring the best value for enterprises with 5G,” said Manjot Singh Mann, chief executive officer, M1.

“Accenture recently surveyed 2,500 global executives across industries in 17 countries and found that 80% believe 5G will have a transformational impact on their business. This 5G network collaboration with M1 enhances our ability to drive compressed transformation across the cloud continuum with a dynamic array of capabilities from the public cloud to the edge and everything in-between. Together, we will help enterprises accelerate digital transformation, drive innovation and solve business problems as they leverage advanced network connectivity to enable more sustainable practices that will shape the future of cities,” said Ng Wee Wei, Singapore country managing director at Accenture.

To date, M1 has conducted more than 15 5G use cases and partnerships, ranging from maritime drones to autonomous vehicles in smart estates. M1 has ongoing partnerships across the aforementioned verticals, which include 5G drone trials at the Maritime Drone Estate with Airbus, Maritime Port Authority of Singapore and Infocomm Media Development Authority to support port operations, incident management and response, 5G augmented reality surveillance and video analytics for workplace safety and efficiency with Keppel Offshore & Marine, as well as 5G-powered Autonomous Mobility Robots with Continental and JTC, with a commercialised food delivery robot that is currently serving in CleanTech Park.

Since M1 launched its True 5G network last July, the coverage has expanded to about 65% of Singapore. With the continual growth of the infrastructure and strengthening of capabilities, M1 is excited to leverage its expertise in the game changing technology of 5G and capture new areas of growth.
