Brunei teleco, Telekom Brunei Berhad (TelBru) has selected Aptilo Networks to supply 60 Wi-Fi hotspots and the Aptilo Service Management Platform to support its nationwide Wi-Fi service.
According to Aptilo, the platform enables the creation of a highly scalable Wi-Fi network in which users enjoy ""invisible"" handoffs when roaming between Wi-Fi hotspots.
Users will enjoy 30 minutes of free Wi-Fi after requesting an SMS code. TelBru also plans to enable prepaid access through vouchers, and postpaid access for existing users of its fixed wireless service.
It also plans to monetize the network by enabling Wi-Fi services to verticals such as sports venues, airports and coffee shops and will also offer wholesale capacity to MNOs and establish roaming agreements with operators overseas.
""Carrier Wi-Fi is key to customer retention, and is also a compelling business-to-business proposition that generates revenue for carriers,"" said Jan Sjönell, managing director APAC, Aptilo Networks.
