Vodafone Idea (Vi) has adopted HCL Augmented Network Automation (HCL ANA), a multivendor self-optimizing network (MV-SON) platform, to manage its Ericsson and Samsung networks.

The HCL ANA platform utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to simplify the management of Vodafone Idea's complex multi-vendor, multi-technology, and multi-layered network for seamless integration and efficient network operations.

Far-Reaching Capabilities

The platform is also SMO-ready (an automation platform for Cloud RAN/Open RAN and purpose-built RAN). SMO provides platform capabilities that facilitate the development of specialized automation applications to address common management use cases in multi-vendor RAN networks. This ensures that investments remain adaptable and future ready.

Through its open architecture, the HCL ANA platform empowers Vi to independently manage and automate its network, reducing reliance on OEM-specific features and applications. This results in energy savings, cost reduction, and a more sustainable network. Ultimately, Vi customers will benefit from a faster and more reliable network.

Jagbir Singh, CTO of Vodafone Idea, believes that the AI-powered HCL ANA platform will streamline network operations and provide customers with a superior network experience. This collaboration reflects Vi's commitment to utilizing advanced, ‘Made-in-India’ technologies to enhance services, cut costs, and prepare for the future of telecom innovation.
