Singtel and Hitachi, Ltd. have agreed to work together on next-generation data centers and a GPU Cloud in Japan and potentially the wider Asia Pacific region. This collaboration will be led by Singtel's Digital InfraCo unit.

The partnership will combine Singtel's expertise in data centers and connectivity with Hitachi's capabilities in data center integration, including green power solutions, cooling systems, storage infrastructure, and data management.

Accelerating AI Adoption

The goal is to improve data center performance and capabilities to accelerate AI adoption and digital transformation for businesses. The agreement builds on a previous partnership between the two companies, which encompassed integrating Singtel's Paragon platform with Hitachi's AI applications for manufacturing operations and enterprise customers.

This collaboration aims to address the challenges faced by customers when implementing AI capabilities. With the increasing demand for AI and cloud services, Japan has become one of the largest and fastest-growing data center markets in the Asia Pacific region. The market is expected to reach USD 5 billion by 2028 with a compound annual growth rate of 9.8%.

Singtel's CEO of Digital InfraCo, Mr. Bill Chang, expressed excitement about the partnership with Hitachi and the opportunities it presents in the Japanese market. Singtel aims to become a leader in the Asia Pacific region by leveraging its digital capabilities and partnerships (similar to the partnership with Hitachi).

Hitachi's Executive Vice President, Mr. Toshiaki Tokunaga, highlighted the company's commitment to addressing customer challenges and promoting sustainability. The strategic alliance with Singtel will focus on developing sustainable data centers that enable intelligent and environmentally conscious operations.

The MoU between Singtel and Hitachi covers areas such as exploring next-generation data center collaborations in Japan and the Asia Pacific to meet AI demand, as well as combining Singtel's GPU platform with Hitachi's AI expertise to develop enterprise applications. The goal is to create more efficient and sustainable methodologies for AI applications that benefit both companies and their customers.
