After a successful 2-year run, StarHub’s CEO Peter Kaliaropoulos has announced that he will be retiring from his role effective October 31st due to health issues pertaining to a family member.

According to a statement by Kaliaropoulos, Unforeseen serious health related matters of a close family member have necessitated my urgent return to Sydney, to be closer to my family during this critical period. Following almost 40 years in the industry across multiple countries.”

As Singapore’s second largest telco, StarHub had undergone a number of transformative journeys with Kaliaropoulos at the helm, some of which include a transition from cable to fibre with mesh support, a revamped HomeHub Plus plan with a Netflix bundle and acquiring a joint 5G license bid with M1.

Naturally, a global search is already in the works to appoint a new CEO who will lead the telco to greater heights.

Mr Kaliaropoulos is confident that StarHub will be able to continue optimising the customer experience and providing unmatched services to the region with a new leader.

We have put a team together of very experienced professionals, and even if one member of the board steps down, the team is certainly good enough and strong enough to keep driving the business forward.”
