International engineering, design and advisory company Aurecon has appointed industry veteran Andy North into the newly-created role of director of growth strategies in Asia.

We have appointed Andy to help drive our growth and explore the opportunities around infrastructure and sustainability in the region,” said Stephane Asselin, managing director – Asia. “Andy is a proven leader with experience in identifying new markets, M&As, and foraging mutually beneficial partnerships in Asia”

In Andy’s role as director of growth strategies in Asia, he will develop new areas of business growth for Aurecon, including expanding into new countries, markets, and business lines, as well as identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships and mergers & acquisitions.

A civil engineer by background, Andy is also a proven business leader with significant experience in implementing growth strategies, identifying and structuring merger and acquisition deals, and leading various forms of integrated delivery projects and programs including design, build, finance and operate and public-private-partnerships.

Over his 35-year career, Andy has also led major water sector projects around Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America, including a US$120-million wastewater treatment project in Xi-Lang, Guangzhou, China; a US$46 million water treatment plant in Tianjin, China; and a US$7.5 million tertiary wastewater treatment plant in Jasper, Canada.

Prior to joining Aurecon, Andy was the chief operating officer at Atlas Industries, a leading BIM and digital delivery solution provider. Before Atlas, he was Senior Vice-President for Strategic Development and Mergers & Acquisitions for global engineering firm AECOM.

Iconic projects the company has delivered in Asia include the West Kowloon Station in Hong Kong, Vincom Landmark 81 Tower in Vietnam, the Shanghai Tower in China, South-east Asia’s largest solar farm, and the Mauritius’ Metro Express as part of a Singapore-Mauritius government collaboration.
