The global traditional PC market has recovered from a two-year downturn in the first quarter of 2024 (Q1‘24) with 59.8 million shipments, up 1.5% year-over- year. This resurgence was aided by favorable year-over-year comparisons, with the market falling 28.7% in the first quarter of 2023.

Moreover, volumes in Q1'24 mirrored pre-pandemic levels seen in the first quarter of 2019. Although PC shipments rose in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, deflationary pressures in China hindered the market's recovery, particularly for desktops.

The PC market’s resurgence highlights the ongoing importance of PCs in various sectors, including remote work and education, and reflects evolving patterns of technology adoption worldwide. The market's recovery signifies broader shifts in consumer behavior and reaffirms PCs' enduring role in the digital ecosystem, emphasizing the resilience of the technology industry amidst changing circumstances.

However, as inflation falls, the industry expects further growth, particularly as newer AI PCs enter the market, creating potential opportunities for manufacturers.
