An industry leading step in 5G took place earlier last month when Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated and ZTE Corporation together achieved 5G-enabled Voice over New Radio call. The call was performed in compliance with 3GPP Release 15 specifications over the 2.5 GHz spectrum band (n41) by utilizing a ZTE’s 5G NR base station and a 5G smartphone form factor test device powered by a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 5G Modem-RF System.

Customers can now connect in multiple data centers in Sydney, Perth and Brisbane. PCCW Global is the international operating division of HKT, Hong Kong’s premier telecommunications service provider.

KDDI will use IDEMIA’s Smart Connect Platform for its eSIM management technology to deliver cellular connectivity to Japanese business users. This will give travelling employees internet access anytime and anywhere, without searching for Wi-Fi hotspots or having to buy SIM cards.

Inmarsat, the world leader in global, mobile satellite communications, has confirmed the successful launch of GX5, the fifth satellite in its Global Xpress (GX) fleet. The satellite was lifted into orbit by an Ariane 5 launch vehicle from the Ariane Launch Complex No. 3 (ELA-3) in Kourou, French Guiana. GX5 is scheduled to enter commercial service in early 2020 and deliver additional, focused broadband capacity over Europe and the Middle East.
