At Huawei's Better World Summit for 5G + AR, Huawei Carrier BG CMO Bob Cai delivered a keynote speech titled 5G + AR, Turning Dreams into Reality. In this speech, Cai said that 5G will switch on AR, and AR will light up 5G. He also announced the release of the AR Insight and Application Practice White Paper, which offers insights into the AR industry in terms of devices, applications, and networking. Cai called on the entire industry to work together for a prosperous 5G + AR ecosystem.

Qualcomm reveals 5G mmWave connectivity 16 times faster than sub-6 GHz
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced real-world test results demonstrating that 5G mmWave connectivity speeds on commercial devices is 16 times faster than 5G operating solely in sub-6 GHz frequencies. These results were based on Ookla® Speedtest Intelligence® data from user-initiated tests on commercial devices in the United States. 5G mmWave uses ultra-wide channels to deliver exponentially faster speeds and greater capacity compared with lower frequency 4G or 5G bands. 5G mmWave momentum continues through the world, with deployments from all major operators in the U.S. and Japan, recent deployments in Europe and South East Asia, and more coming soon in regions such as Australia and Latin America. China is also expected to deploy 5G mmWave for the Winter Olympics early next year.

Microsoft to establish first datacenter region in Malaysia to support economy
Microsoft Corp. announced its “Bersama Malaysia” (Together with Malaysia) initiative, which marks a significant commitment to empowering Malaysia’s inclusive digital economy and advancing the nation’s digital transformation across the private and public sectors. As part of the plan, Microsoft will establish its first datacenter region in the country to deliver trusted cloud services locally, with world-class data security, privacy, and the ability to store data in-country. Microsoft also announced plans to skill an additional 1 million Malaysians by end of 2023 to help create economic opportunities for people and businesses in the digital era. Finally, Microsoft will help form the MyDigital Alliance Leadership Council to collaborate on cloud-first and digital-native policy recommendations.

Inmarsat joins effort for telecommunications and navigation systems for lunar missions
Inmarsat, the world leader in global, mobile satellite communications, will be a key member of a new consortium led by Telespazio to study the development of a satellite navigation and communications network that supports future missions to the Moon.
