Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison has partnered with Google to launch the first Rich Communication Services (RCS) Business Messaging service in Indonesia.

Unlike SMS, which only allows for the sending and receiving of text messages, RCS allows for the sending and receiving of attachments as well as read receipts.

Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said "This strategic partnership is part of the long-term collaboration that has been established with Google. This partnership is also part of Indosat's commitment to improving customer experience. Through RCS Business Message, which was launched for the first time in Indonesia, MSMEs can take advantage of this channel to increase their business reach and provide value-added experiences. This is part of our mission to continue to provide world-class digital experiences and connections, with the goal to empower the Indonesian people."

The RCS Business Messaging feature expands Indosat's Application-to-Person (A2P) SMS service by adding business branding and verification, potential reply suggestions and carousel message cards. Previously, this service simply permitted the transmission of SMS’ to clients. Customers will have a more secure, convenient and appealing experience with RCS Business Messaging, which will allow more businesses, particularly micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), to take advantage of this new channel.

Bee Loon Tan, Head of Business Development for Communication Products (Asia) at Google, stated, “We are pleased to partner with Indosat to bring RCS Business Messaging to Indonesia, enabling safe, trusted and verified messaging between businesses and consumers.” Bee Loon Tan further mentioned, "This collaboration will also help many small and medium businesses in Indonesia accelerate their digital transformation efforts and accelerate Indonesia's overall digital transformation."
