CelcomDigi has kicked off the first of a three-part CelcomDigi MY5G CEO Roundtable 2023, as part of the CelcomDigi MY5G Series, aimed at helping businesses realize the true potential of 5G in Malaysia.

The event was held in collaboration with CelcomDigi's strategic partners and global technology enablers, such as Axiata, Telenor, Capgemini, Ericsson, Huawei, Kearney, Microsoft and ZTE.

"The roundtable series covers actionable insights on how leading global businesses have leveraged the power of 5G and enabling technologies like AI and IoT to digitalize business for growth and transform industries in leading markets," CelcomDigi shared in a statement.

The series sets the stage for all industry captains of Malaysia's top publicly listed companies, corporates and public sector at the roundtable session to exchange views and engage each other on the relevance of 5G for Malaysian businesses.

CelcomDigi's Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Idham Nawawi, explained that driving the adoption of 5G in the country requires joint partnership and effort between corporates, the public sector, technology enablers and connectivity providers.

"As the nation intensifies the rollout of 5G access, it is crucial to also step up the development of a robust 5G ecosystem in the country. This takes close collaboration and engagement amongst businesses across various industries to drive 5G enablement in Malaysia and support the nation's digital agenda," he continued.

"Ultimately, we have a shared goal of bringing value to all consumers and in improving the lives and livelihoods of Malaysians. We look forward to working closely with businesses to unlock the potential of 5G and, in turn, deliver more value and benefits to all consumers," Mr. Nawawi said.

CelcomDigi's Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Afizulazha Abdullah, added, "We have already collaborated with some of our large enterprise clients to run several 5G pilot use cases and have seen the prospects of how 5G-powered solutions can help to digitalize and fundamentally transform operations and way of work to achieve better productivity and outcomes for their businesses, their customers, as well as their employees."

"We are excited about the possibilities that 5G can bring in advancing industries such as agriculture, energy, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, ports, property, and utilities and infrastructure, among others. We're committed to deepening engagements and exploring opportunities with businesses, as 5G applications require continued research and should be carefully customized and implemented with the needs of Malaysians in mind. We believe this will be crucial in accelerating the nation's digital transformation," he shared.

Following the CelcomDigi MY5G Series launch, Afizulazha said that the company will introduce a larger-scale 5G business conference and tech showcase in Kuala Lumpur in the coming months. A series of digital workshops for MSMEs across several states nationwide is expected to happen as part of the company's ongoing drive to support MSMEs in digitalizing their businesses.
