SAP and NTT say they are expanding their established partnership to develop IoT systems for the transport industry. Their initial project will combine vehicle-monitoring systems from SAP with driver monitoring technology from NTT.

NEC has signed a contract with Telkom Indonesia to develop the Indonesia Global Gateway cable system (IGG) that will connect the islands of Sumatra, Batam, Jawa, Bali, Kalimantan and Sulawesi with Singapore.

Chinese manufacturers tipped to spend $127b annually on IoT
IDC says it expects spending on IoT by Chinese manufacturing enterprises to reach $US127.5 billion by 2020, a compound average growth rate of 14.7 percent from 2016 to 2020.
IDC says software and services between them will account for 60 percent of expenditure. It notes that IoT has been enshrined in China's 13th Five-Year Development Plan and has become a strategic emerging industry in the country.

Ooredoo Myanmar achieves 'record breaking growth'
Ooredoo Myanmar has announced 'recording-breaking growth' with the addition of 1.3 million customers in the second quarter of 2016, taking the total number of users on its network to 8.2 million, 2.4 million of which were added in the first six months of 2016. The company also told the Myanmar Times that the number of 4G users had passed the half million mark. Meanwhile Nokia and Ooredoo Myanmar have announced completion of network rollout and launch of what they claim to be the first LTE (4G) service in Myanmar.
