BBIX, a subsidiary of SoftBank Corp. that operates an Internet Exchange (IX) business, has entered into a partnership agreement with NEC Corporation for its data center connectivity project.

Under the deal, BBIX will add NEC’s Inzai Data Center and Kanagawa Data Center to its Open Connectivity eXchange (“OCX”) connection points.

Among BBIX’s list of services is the OCX, which allows on-demand connectivity for a range of cloud services and data centers via a dedicated customer portal.

By adding NEC’s Inzai Data Center and Kanagawa Data Center to OCX connection points, customers will be able to connect to OCX from NEC’s data centers, and easily enjoy a secure, high-quality and closed network environment.

BBIX, together with NEC, will continue to expand its services to help customers accelerate their DX (Digital Transformation) and business growth.

Toshifumi Uesaka, Managing Director, Managed Service Division of NEC Corporation, said in a statement, “We are very pleased that BBIX will establish OCX connection points at NEC Inzai Data Center and NEC Kanagawa Data Center. The establishment of these connection points in our data centers will enable us to provide our customers with high quality connectivity services with shorter delivery times. NEC will continue to partner with BBIX to help further the DX of our customers.”

Michikazu Fukuchi, Executive Vice President and COO of BBIX, Inc., further added, “We are excited to be able to offer BBIX’s OCX services through our partnership in the data center field with NEC, a leader in the ICT industry. Starting with the addition of NEC Inzai Data Center and the NEC Kanagawa Data Center in August, we will continue to expand our services nationwide, and contribute to the acceleration of DX and the business growth of our customers.”
